The Department of Mechanical Engineering, Tulsiramji Gaikwad-Patil College of Engineering & Technology (TGPCET), Nagpur, successfully organised an Awareness Program on the Ginning Course on 2nd September 2025 at JRD Tata Hall.
The program was graced by Dr. J. F. Agrawal (Guest of Honour) and Mr. Nitin Kamlakar Bagokar, Vice President (Engineering), Bajaj Steel Industries Ltd., Nagpur (Chief Guest). Both eminent speakers shared valuable insights on the importance of skill development in the cotton ginning industry and addressed student queries related to the course, internships, and placements.
The event began with the lighting of the lamp, followed by opening remarks from the Dr. P. L. Naktode, Principal, who highlighted the MoU signed with BISL, Nagpur. Dr. J. F. Agrawal delivered a thought-provoking address emphasizing industry–academia collaboration and informed students about the upcoming Ginning Course, which will be introduced from the 6th semester. The Ginning Course has been formally approved by the Board of Studies (BoS) and will equip students with the skills to apply their knowledge effectively in the ginning industry.
Mr. Nitin Kamlakar Bagokar engaged the audience through slides and videos. He began with an introductory film on BISL, followed by a detailed presentation on the need for introducing the course at the B.Tech level. He concluded by stressing the demand for skilled professionals in the ginning industry.
The awareness program not only enriched students with industrial knowledge but also marked the beginning of a new chapter in TGPCET’s efforts to bridge the gap between education and industry through specialised courses.
The event concluded with the felicitation of the Guests with mementos, followed by the Vote of Thanks delivered by the Head of the Department, Mechanical Engineering, who acknowledged the support of the Management, Principal, Vice Principal, Dean Academics, faculty, staff, and students in making the program a grand success.
